Livermore Valley AVA
It was in 1982 that Livermore Valley was approved by the BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms) as an American Vititcultural Area.The Appellation was granted on the basis of Livermore's unique gravelly soils and afternoon, marine winds.

Today there are 52 resident wineries listed for Livermore Valley AVA. As of March 09, there are 43 winery members listed with Livermore Winegrowers Association, plus 40 growers. Some wineries do not join because they do not produce enough wine to donate to the Downtown Livermore Wine Festival. For more information, contact Carol Dimeff, The Nose for Value Wines!
